WordPress, class update

I’ve set up a Doodle Poll to help us orchestrate a time. If you are interested, please fill out the schedule with the times you would be available for a session. The length will largely be dependent on the questions I receive and interest.

Also I’d like to make this session as structured to what you’re working on as possible, so please comment below with questions/topics you would like me to cover as well as anything else you would like to get out of this. (You can also e-mail me questions)

Thanks for all of your great blog entries thus far, the participation and interest has been great.

This would be GREAT! I filled out the scheduling poll. I’m guessing you meant 2 PM? Thanks for organizing this! In the mean time can you recommend any particular sites. I know smashingmagazine.com and the W3 ones. Are there any others that help with figuring out a theme and customizing it, especially in less conventional ways? (like changing the direction of a navigation bar or something like that?)

and Yes I did mean 2pm.

This site can be helpful at times: http://www.wpdesigner.com/

    Some good tutorials here:

I’m going to keep an eye out and see if I can find some more good sources for learning on it. My best advice is to find a theme that has something you like in it, and work on copying that part of the theme over to the new one. It seems like cheating, but often times that can be a good way to begin learning the ins and outs of programming.

I love the idea of a class on WP design! Just filled out the poll. The topics I would like to know more about:
    - how to customize an existing theme
    - how to incorporate features from other websites / platforms (e.g. flickr, openstreetmap etc)
    - creating a password-protected part on the blog
    [to be continued]

I’d just like to get “under the hood” in the Site Admin area to see how to manipulate things (esp. using Digress.it – a.k.a. Comment Press theme).
