Project: Archiving the City
I am a doctoral student in the Environmental Psychology program. My research is about the connection between the modern and postmodern impulse to create archives (from diaries and national archives, to bits and bytes of data stored in mobile phones and on laptops) and the affective experience of the city. I am interested especially in artistic creative practices, both professional and non-professional, which explore this connection. I believe that researchers who study cities can learn a lot about people’s visceral connection to place by closely following such creative archival practices.
