Carolina Muñoz Proto

Carolina Muñoz Proto is a doctoral candidate in the Social/Personality Psychology Program at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. Her research lies at the intersection of psychology, participatory action-based research, and the arts/new media. In her work on nonviolence activism and youth criminalization she explores the structures of social injustice as well as the educational and political spaces that enable us to experience forgotten social alternatives.

Earlier projects explored youth cross-cultural mentoring relationships as sites for alliance building and peer-education. She is affiliated with the Public Science Project at the CUNY Graduate Center and is a teaching fellow in the Hunter College Psychology Department, CUNY. Her work draws inspiration from Latin American New Humanism and its call to “overcome pain and suffering, learn without limits and love the reality we build.” Carolina was born and raised in Chile at the foot of the Andes.
