Ellen La Forge is working on a Ph.D. in Art History at the Graduate Center and is a full-time faculty member in the Communication Arts Department at the New York Institute of Technology. Her primary research interests are the art and technology movement, new media and interactive narrative. Currently she teaches courses in animation, web design and motion graphics. She has also collaborated in performance art work as a member of the group ?TEZ? at venues such as Northwestern University, the University of Georgia and Brown University. She has received several grants for installations and web sites highlighting digital photography and image processing. As a graduate student, she played electric bass in the rock group Jon Waine. Her project at the New Media Lab is a web site about 19th century American landscape painter Frederic Edwin Church and his seminal paintingHeart of the Andes (see Heart of the Andes online). La Forge received her M.F.A. degree at Rutgers University’s Mason Gross School of the Arts.
