Laurie Hurson

Laurie Hurson is a graduate student at The Graduate Center at The City University of New York, working towards her PhD in Environmental Psychology. Currently she is working on a research project that examines the motivations and perceptions of individuals who engage in simple living.

Broadly, her research interests include alternative lifestyles, ecocentric worldviews, consumerism, and possibilities for long-term sustainability. She is also committed to learning how digital media and presence might assist in knowledge creation, consciousness raising, and social movements.

Prior to enrolling at the Graduate Center Laurie lived in Philadelphia and worked as a research technician at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. She received her B.S. in Psychology from Saint Joseph’s University.
